Health Confianza is a collaborative, city-wide project funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health. Our name reflects our mission: to build trust and confidence in health information and services. We want to help people living in San Antonio access and use important health information and services. Although we will focus on COVID-19, we plan to work with community partners and leaders to identify and address other priority health issues.
We support San Antonio’s trusted natural leaders and organizations serving 22 priority zip codes to create and share health-promoting messages tailored for our local culture and context. We want San Antonians to see and hear themselves in the health messages that matter most to them, so everyone is empowered to cultivate their health and wellbeing. We envision a city where everyone can make the best decisions for themselves and for their families, with the best available information and services, leading to improved well-being and fewer health disparities.
Health Confianza is a collaborative effort led by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, UT Health San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio. The COVID-19 Community Response and Equity Coalition, via the Education Workgroup, serves as the advisory group for this project, with many coalition members assisting with implementation and evaluation.
